RENTISTA (Fixed Income)
The Rentista category for residency can be completed in two ways, both require to prove a fixed and dependable income.
Firstly, you can make a deposit of $60,000 in a Costa Rican bank that has approval from Immigration. Scotiabank, Bank of Costa Rica, Pro America are three that will work for this process.
The second way of showing you meet the rentista requirement is to provide proof of an income equal to or greater than $2,500 per month for a minimum of two years. This would be certified by a bank with a certified letter.
After three years of temporary residency under this category you may apply for permanent residency after three years of residing in Costa Rica.
